Strengthening the voice of older persons : Civil society’s role in the MIPAA review process
An international exchange
Thursday, 25 June 2026, 14.30 to 16.30 CEST
In 2027, the Madrid International Plan of Action on Ageing (MIPAA) will undergo its fifth review and evaluation. In preparation for this important event, governments in the UNECE region will submit their national reports by autumn 2026 on their measures to implement MIPAA, its Regional Implementation Strategy (RIS) and the UNECE Ministerial Declaration – the outcome of the fourth review process concluded in 2022.
This online event focuses on the role of civil society in this review and appraisal process. Best practices will be presented on how older people and their organisations can be involved in the review process and a discussion will take place on how civil society can play a decisive role in shaping ageing policy.
The event is part of the series ‘An engaged civil society as engine for an age-friendly society: an international exchange’, which includes six online events until the end of 2026. The series provides a platform for civil society to connect, exchange ideas and to stay informed about the latest international developments in ageing policy and the human rights of older persons.
Event languages are English, German, French and Russian, with simultaneous interpretation.
