Declaration on the German Senior Citizens' Day
Mannheim Declaration "What matters"
Declaration by BAGSO and its member organisations on the 14th German Senior Citizens' Day 2025

Older generations want to participate in shaping the future of society. This is the central message of the ‘Mannheim Declaration,’ which BAGSO, the German National Association of Senior Citizens‘ Organisations, published together with its 121 member associations on the 14th German Senior Citizens’ Day. Under the motto ‘What matters’, the committed members of the BAGSO associations formulate their self-image as an active part of civil society. At the same time, the Mannheim Declaration is addressed to politicians and society. It calls for greater consideration for the skills and resources of older people in tackling the challenges ahead, for the promotion of a differentiated and contemporary image of old age, and for combating exclusion and discrimination.
