Human rights in old age – why should I care?

International day at the 13th German Seniors' Day

25 November 2021, online

What significance do human rights have in everyday life, especially for older people? What can be done to give people access to their rights? How can the human rights of older people be better protected worldwide? These and other questions were addressed by experts from Germany and abroad in three discussion rounds.

The first round dealt with a basic understanding of human rights - from theory to practical experiences from different countries. The second round focused on Europe and give participants the opportunity to familiarise themselves with projects and initiatives that support older people with legal issues. The third round focused on what can be done at international level to strengthen the protection of the human rights of older people worldwide.
